Science Popularization:
PSF carries out several programmes for popularization of science in the country. These include:
Science Caravan
Science Caravan is a Mobile Science Exhibition for rural areas that has been designed to increase public awareness about science and to motivate the younger generation of the country towards study of science. Through Mobile Science Exhibition the people living in rural/ backward areas of the country are exposed to some of the most fascinating scientific and technical developments of the modern world.
Competitions
Poster and Essay Competitions on scientific topics are one of the regular activities of Pakistan Science Foundation. PSF, in collaboration with all the Boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) organizes the Competitions among the students of high schools of the country.
Fairs & Expos
Organization of S&T Fairs and Expos is a regular activity of the Foundation. These fairs are organized for the purpose of stimulating public interest and illustrating the progress and accomplishments of scientific institutions of the country. The Foundation also provides financial assistance and technical guidance to the other academic and R&D organizations in organizing such events.
Science Lectures
Eminent scientists, technologists and educationist are invited to deliver lectures for the mixed audience, comprising scientists, research scholars, students and general public.
Meetings of Nobel Laureates
The Foundation invites Nobel Laureates and organizes their meetings with Pakistani students/research scholars. The purpose of these meetings is to inspire and to motivate Pakistani students, young scientists and research scholars for undertaking world class research in various fields of science and technology.
Donations of Books/Literature
As its regular Programme, the Foundation donates scientific books and magazines to high schools particularly in rural areas. During the year 2007, 12000 copies of Monthly Magazine “Global Science” were donated to 1000 high schools and more than 10,000 Brochures and Posters were provided to various high schools and other organizations of the country.
Donation of Laboratory Equipment
Since most of the high schools working in government sector in the rural areas lack laboratory equipment, the Foundation in consultation with the respective Directorate of Education, provides laboratory equipment to deserving high schools for strengthening their laboratories.
