Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Center:

Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Center (PASTIC) is the premier organization in the field of scientific and technological information dissemination. Main objectives of PASTIC are to acquire, process and disseminate S&T information to the R&D / S&T community; to compile, print & publish reference information tools, to organize trainings in contemporary techniques and methods of information handling, to develop / strengthen the PASTIC National Science Reference Library and to establish linkages with regional and international information agencies/networks.

PASTIC is situated at Quaid-i­-Azam University Campus, Islamabad , while its six Sub-Cenres are located at Karachi , Lahore , Peshawar , Quetta , Faisalabad & Muzaffarabad.

Achievements:

  1. Supply of 142,000 documents to S&T community
  2. Provision of over 2 million bibliographic references to research scholars on demand
  3. Collection of 500,000 US, Canadian, German, Australian and European patents
  4. Production of 30,000 indicative and informative abstracts of indigenous S&T literature in the form of Pakistan Science Abstracts (PSA)
  5. Compilation and publication of Union Catalogue of S&T periodicals of 200 S&T libraries of Pakistan and an inventory of 300 S&T periodicals
  6. Training to hundreds of individuals on Information Management, Library Automation, WINISIS, CDS/ISIS, IPR's, data warehousing & data mining.
