Fairs & Expos:

Organization of S&T Fairs and Expos is a regular activity of the Foundation. These fairs are organized for the purpose of stimulating public interest and illustrating the progress and accomplishments of scientific institutions of the country. The foundation has already organized four National Science and Technology Fairs, two S&T Expos and many other exhibitions at small scale. The Foundation also provides financial assistance and technical guidance to other academic and R&D organizations in organizing such events.

On special directives of the President of Pakistan to Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), the Foundation organized National S & T EXPO-2007 “Shaping the Future” at Pakistan Monument Museum, Shkarparian from 24.3.07 to 23.4.07. The event was very successful and well appreciated by the students, teachers, researchers, Nobel Laureates, diplomats, scientists, Govt. Officials and the General Public. The main objective of the Expo was highlighting the achievements of the Public Sector S&T-R&D Organizations. More than 20 organizations arranged their stalls in the Expo and about 95,000 persons visited the Expo. This was intended to provide an opportunity to the general public particularly the younger generation to observe the major achievements in S&T Sector since the creation of Pakistan . The Expo also provided the common platform to the S&T-R&D institutions, entrepreneurs, industrialists, planners and policy makers for interaction and possible collaboration. Besides contributing to the popularization of Science and Technology, the Expo promoted the process of diffusion of technology to the industrial sector.

After its very successful completion, the closing ceremony of the Expo-2007 was held at Holiday Inn Islamabad on 23-4-2007 . Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed, N.I., H.I., S.I. Special Advisor to the Prime Minister was the Chief Guest. Dr. N. M. Butt, S.I. Chairman , Pakistan Science Foundation welcomed the Scientists and the Heads of the participating organizations. Activity Report of Expo was presented by Dr. S. Azhar Hasan, Member Science, PSF. Dr. Tariq-ur-Renman, Chairman, PCST and Representatives of Participating Organizations delivered their speeches. Engr. Parvez Butt, Secretary, MoST delivered his speech and appreciated the efforts of the Foundation for the national cause of propagation of science. At the end of the ceremony, the Chief Guest gave away the Shields and certificates to the Participating Organizations and the organizing committees. Finally Mrs. Farhat Rajpar, Secretary, Expo presented vote of thanks to the Participants. A full report of the expo has also been prepared separately.
