A two day workshop on project formulation was held on 8th and 9th February 2012 at KP Agricultural University, Peshawar. The workshop was organized to increase
the research proposal writing skills of scientists working in different public sector universities and R&D organizations across the KP province. Chairman, Pakistan Science Foundation, Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro and Vice Chancellor, KP Agricultural University Prof. Dr. Khan Bahadar Marwat were the guests of honor.
Proceedings of the inaugural session stated with recitation of holy Quran. Addressing the occasion Prof. Dr. Khan Bahadur Marwat, Vice-Chancellor, KP Agricultural University welcomed the Chairman PSF and worthy guests and thanked PSF for organizing the workshop at KP Agricultural University Peshawar. He urged participants to take full advantage of workshop and learn valuable techniques of formulating the quality project proposals. Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro, Chairman, PSF explained the role of PSF and emphasized the participants to take guidance from the PSF authorities and speakers to formulate the fund winning quality proposals. He added that quality of research needs to be at par with the international standards and it can only be possible if researchers concentrate on the problem solving approach.
Earlier Prof. Dr. Zahoor Swati, Dean Faculty of Crop Production KP Agriculture University delivered the welcome address. He thanked Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro, Chairman PSF Ms. Farhat Rajpar, Chief Scientific Officer, speakers and participants.
The workshop proved to be a great success as it was attended by the researchers hailing from different universities and research institutes around the province. Scientists were trained on different aspects of writing a good quality research proposal by renowned researchers namely Dr. Kazi Suleman Memon, coordinator projects and programme
, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam and Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Commissioner, Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Training workshop proved to be great success in terms of raising the skills of researchers about formulating research proposals before submitting to PSF. This workshop will over all help in raising the standards of research the country. PSF also aims to hold a series of workshops on project formulation across the country coming months.
