To meet emerging
global challenges, a well-built link between research organizations,
entrepreneurs and funding institutions is need of the hour.
Pakistan Science Foundation had established Industrial Liaison
Group (ILG) to facilitate contact between stakeholders.
ILG is focused on applied research. It pursues a client-centered
model, aspiring to join researchers and business community.
ILG’s roles and responsibilities include identification,
co-ordination and funding research projects. The aim is
to augment indigenous technology usage to fortify socio-economic-development.
To achieve economic payback from research, involvement
of a serious end-user is indispensable. End-users can
be from private sector, government and semi-government
organizations or any potential entrepreneur. In this way,
results drawn from research can be delivered to industry
to make it more efficient, productive and cost beneficent.
ILG gathers marketable research projects from Chambers
of commerce, Industry, experts and workshops/seminars/symposia
while Pakistan Science Foundation provides funds.
ILG can embark on projects from diverse areas which may
contribute towards socio-economic-development. So far,
ILG has undertaken about forty-five projects of applied
nature from a variety of disciplines like chemicals, petrochemicals,
corrosion engineering, fuels and lubricants, bio-technology,
environment, wildlife management, agriculture, mineral
sciences, herbal medicines, food sciences, power engineering
etc.
In addition to this, ILG is also working to develop Technology
Transfer Packages (TTP) for different organizations.
