Science Popularization Programme
Science Caravans or mobile Science Exhibition are mounted on specially designed vehicles. They consist of display items like Panel Exhibits having photographs and write-ups, equipment, inflatable planetarium, documentaries, microscopes, computers, laser holograms and working models reflecting various phenomena of physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology.
Organization of S&T Fairs and Expos is a regular activity of the Foundation. These fairs are organized for the purpose of stimulating public interest and illustrating the progress and accomplishments of scientific institutions of the country.
Celebration of World Science Day for Peace and Development (WSDPD) on November 10 each year has become a regular programme of the Foundation. World Science Day was proclaimed by UNESCO in the year 2001, since then the Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Science & Technology and UNESCO is celebrating Science Day.

Research Support
Pakistan Science Foundation assists the universities and research institutions by providing them Institutional Support Grants for the purchase of lab. equipment, chemicals, literature etc. to strengthen the research capabilities of these institutions in order to carryout R&D work.
Under the Travel Grant programme, grants are provided to scientists, technologists and doctors so that they can present their research work at international fora. The grant covers their travel expenses, registration fee and living expenses.
There are many Scientific Societies and learned bodies, disciplinary as well as general, in the country which are actively engaged in the promotion of Science and Technology. Of these, 28 are registered with PSF. They are rendering their services by holding conferences, seminars, workshop on various scientific topics and publication of Scientific Journals & periodicals in their respective fields. These Societies and Learned bodies, however, do not have any regular source of funding/income for support of their activities.

Natural Science Linkage Programme
Pakistan Science Foundation was established in 1973 through an act of National Assembly for research funding and science popularization. Funds for its statutory function are being provided by the Ministry of Science and Technology. PSF is mandated to have Endowments for statutory functions.
Being the premier organization of the country for research funding, Ministry of Science and Technology assigned the task of handling of an endowment fund provided by US Government titled as "Pak-US Natural Sciences Linkages Programme-NSLP".
PSF is using the profit earned on the Endowment Fund for funding of research projects in Agriculture and related sciences for sustainable agricultural production with emphasis on enhanced benefits to the producers/farmers. The research projects are processed as per the set procedure of Pakistan Science Foundation with technical recommendations of two Pakistani experts and a US expert through the USDA.

R&D Industry Programme
Socio-economic progress of any nation is achievable by development and appropriate use of indigenous technologies through application and commercialization of research. Socio-economic progress is the most daunting task faced by the third world countries. Pakistan is a country blessed with tremendous amount of natural resources, state of the art public sector capability and well established marketability system in the private sector.
Six Core Technology areas based on National Needs, import substitution and exports have been identified. These include iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, electronics, computers, semi-conductors, and bio-technology.
Emphasis is also being laid on Emerging Technologies that have direct relevance to the socio-economic development of the country in a shorter span of time such as environment friendly energy technologies, transportation, information technology, genetic engineering, synthetic biology and synthetic genomics, robotics and applied mechanics, material sciences and others.
